TOOL DESCRIPTION

We show the primary application system of an industrial machine (atomizer), comparing it to the primary application system of a simple on farm machine (just pouring the slurry onto the seeds)
We simulate both type of applications, spraying slurry onto a small amount of seeds with a portable mistblower, and just pouring the same amount of slurry onto another seed sample

HOW IT IS USED

  • We explain the growers how difficult it is to reach good seed-to-seed distribution without adequate primary application systems.
  • We emphasize that all alternatives to improve seed-to-seed distribution after the bad primary application (vigorous shaking of seeds, increase slurry volume with water) can damage and decrease the quality of seeds
